A Hairy Situation.

There is something I don't quite understand. Whenever I try to grow my hair long--which I am currently doing--my hairdresser tells me it is important to get a trim every 6-8 weeks and that it will actually help my hair grow faster if I cut it and keep it healthy in that way. THIS CANNOT BE TRUE. I feel like it is a scam and she just wants me to pay her loads of money to cut of half an inch of hair. There is no way that cutting the bottom of my hair will make it grow faster. Hair grows out of your scalp so from the TOP not from the bottom. I am a very logical person and this is a concept I cannot grasp because I know it has to be false. The only reason there is an inckling of doubt in me is because I have heard this from so many different hair people. If anyone knows the reason why they say this and if it is true, please let me know because it is really, really bugging me and I don't want to keep throwing away $60 every 6 weeks just to get a lousy trim when I don't even really need it and will only make my hair shorter when I am trying to get it to be long!!

your hair keeps growing from your scalp (ew) but if you go a long time without getting a trim you'll get split ends. so the ends of your hair will just keep breaking off and getting worse and worse and shorter so it wont seem like its growing.

i hope thats really why because it seems to make a lot of sense????

Haha, I guess that makes more sense...But still! I don't get split ends within six weeks and certainly not to the point where my hair is breaking off! So I think I can go like 3 months ish without getting a trim...We'll see.
